Welcome to

Bonneville Fly Fishers

  • Day trips are recommended to be less than 2.5 hrs and overnight less than 5 hrs drive time from SLC.  This is to keep fishing time greater than drive time, facilitate interest, accessibility, and trip attendance.
  • It is helpful to have day trips the week after a club meeting to promote\inform\get additional attendees.
  • Attendance of less than 4 persons need not be designated as a club trip.
  • Some trips will have limited attendance allowances due to destination access and facilities.
  • Participant and spouses may attend if member is in good standing with IFF and BFF.
  • One may invite a friend to a club day trip as a means of introducing them to the club.  More than 2 trips and the invitee needs to join the club to attend additional activities.
  • Trip description aims to provide drive times, fishing descriptions, rankings (see below) and species.
  • Provide ranking to help with decision making of potential attendees including;
Level of fly fishing technicality e.g.,
Difficult\advanced
Moderate
Easy but not guaranteed

       Access\ Accommodations  e.g.,

Hike
4x4
Moderate clearance vehicle
Dirt road
Paved
Bathrooms
Hook-ups (overnight)
Wet\dry camping (overnight)
Motels\air B&B (overnight)

Weather (very cold, dry, windy, exposed)

   Difficulty of terrain

Wading difficulty e.g.,

·       no waders required
·       hip waders
·       full waders
·          float tube
·       no wading access\very difficult wading
·       good/ moderate/ poor stability wading (e.g. slippery, mucky, high current, trip hazards, etc.).
  • Is there club rental equipment required?
  • Promote fish catching for all attendees.
Sharing of productive holes and locations, promote working flies through cell phone\walkie-talkie communication during trip.

Providing assistance\mentoring to newer or struggling fisherpersons.  If there is a want\need prior to a trip, work to set up mentoring.  RONe can remind them, though, that this is limited in nature and the club is not intended to provide ‘guided’ trips.

  • For those trips requiring a deposit, anyone having to drop will forfeit their deposit, unless other arrangements are made (e.g. waitlist or substitute club member agreed upon by trip host).
